If you’re looking for in an ebike with near limitless range then the DUSK R is right up your street. With Shimano’s new magnesium bodied STEPS EP801 motor you can choose between 3 modes (ECO, TRAIL and BOOST) to prioritize either assistance or range.
For the riders who like to tweak their rides you can further customize the characteristics of each mode via Shimano’s E-Tube Project app thus tailoring them perfectly to your riding style. Its comes with a 720Wh battery to open up longer rides in the mountains than ever before, and it comes with the option of extending this capacity even further thanks to an additional 360Wh external battery if required.
All of that adds up 1,080Wh of day long exploring. Awesome! With 160mm of travel at the front and 150mm at the rear, your rides will be a blast!
Freeborn’s Take
With 150mm out back and 160mm up front the new Dusk R is ready to take on whatever you can throw at it. Descending, climbing and endless hours of singletrack, the Dusk R makes it all possible.
The all aluminium frame set and sealed MAX cartridge bearing pivots are designed to be able to shrug off the worst the trails have to offer. Mondraker’s Forward geometry has a roomy reach, short stem, and steep seat tube angle giving it amazing stability when descending and great manners when climbing.
Mondraker’s Zero Suspension system is supported by a Fox DPS Performance rear air shock delivering 150mm of supple, progressive travel. Combined with a 160mm Fox 36 Rhythm, you have the capability needed for almost anything.
Equipped with the the light and powerful Shimano EP8 Motor delivering up to 85nm of torque. A 630Wh Shimano internal battery will keep you out for all but the longest rides. But if you need an extra bit of juice you can always add the optional 360Wh external battery bumping up your total capacity to 990Wh, putting even more peaks in your sights.
Braking is taken care of by Sram’s light and powerful G2 R 4 piston brakes front and rear coupled with 200mm rotors.
A Sram Eagle drivetrain gives you a wide 11-50 tooth range which will allow to keep your cadence up on even the steepest of climbs keeping the motor delivering power when you need it most.
Sealed cartridge bearing Formula Boost hubs front and rear built onto 30mm wide tubeless ready rims are clad with Maxxis DHF and DHR Exo+ tyres to keep to stuck to the trail.
