In 1974 Mike Sinyard, founder and president of Specialized Bicycles sold his VW camper van and set out on a trip to Europe. Whilst travelling, Mike managed to setup a meeting with legendary component maker Cino Cinelli and as a keen cycling enthusiast it was natural for Mike to ask the question - "Can I start selling your parts in the USA?" From that meeting onwards Specialized Bikes and Equipment was born. Specialized are now one of the leading production mountain bike manufacturers in the world, not to mention the leading production brand in Italy, Germany and the UK. The entire Specialized product range is designed and tested in Morgan Hill, California and their UK headquarters are in Chessington, Surrey - less than 10mins from our Esher store.
