New for 2008, designs for women (D4W) mountain bikes declare independence on the trail by forming stand-alone families that allow them even more devoted frame and specification tuning. Through these all new Safire, Era and Myka families, every level of female rider can find the perfect machine for her off-road adventures.

Basic Specification

The Myka HT Sport Discs A1 Premium Aluminium frame uses the womens-specific Designs for Women geometry for a perfect fit; a reinforcement tube with the disc mount means the frame is built to last.

The 80- or 100mm-travel SR Suntour XCT-MLO features a mechanical lockout and external preload adjustment for fine-tuned performance.

The Avid BB5 mechanical disc brakes, with 160mm G2 Clean Sweep rotors and smooth-pivoting levers, allow for easily controlled stopsalways.

The medium-cage SRAM X4 rear derailleur gives snappy shifts with less chain slap.

The 8-speed SRAM X4 trigger shifters give lightning-fast gear changes.

The XC-specific crankset allows for fast and precise front gear changes, and the Octalink splined interface with the bottom bracket makes for an efficiently smooth setup.

The Specialized/Alex RH Disc rims are double walled for strength and feature a disc-only design.

The high-volume Specialized Fast Trak LK Sport tyres have a reduced knob height for lower rolling resistance, without giving up an ounce of traction.

The Specialized XC Womens saddle has Kevlar-protected sides, for abrasion resistance.
